This is a recent Dyno Test, post tuning of a new 2009 Yamaha R-1. This is the new R1, with Yamaha's GP derived "CrossPlane" crankshaft. This so called "big bang
engine fires in the same basic order as a "screamer" "howler" V4 with a unique for an inline 4 cylinder audio profile. The pipes are a new set of Akrapovic "racing Line" full system with stainless headers replacing the stock Ti pipes. The bike came in dead stock and right out of the crate it made a whopping 124 bhp on pump fuel. After nothing but the pipes, tuning and break in time were finished 141 bhp on the same dyno with a midrange gain of right at 10 ft/lbs of torque. Very Good, not ZX10 or GSXR1000 "fast" but no doubt faster all the same.
